In any case, we're only at the early stages of thinking about a small renovation project, but a builder came over today and said he thought a glazed link was a potential solution for us and when I googled pictures to see what he meant found the one in this house which I think is precisely what we would be looking for. (I should also say that the builder said get an architect which was the most helpful thing he said other than the glazed link suggestion). My Great-grandfather and his brother were Coachmen/Chaffeurs for the Boyd-Harveys and my Grandmother and all her siblings were born at Home Farm. I have heard some great below stairs stories of those times - better than Downton Abbey. I am rather New Age myself and can't think of a better use of the site.
